With a fusion of Congolese rumba, dancehall, and Hip Hop, Major Leek has set a tone for a new sound in the MILE HIGH CITY. Major Leek was born Malik Kohokassa in the Republic Democratic of the Congo in 1998. His love for music comes from listening to the pioneers of the Congolese rumba such as Madilu system, koffi Olomide , papa Wemba. He began making music in high school along side two other artist from Denver. Arthur Blessing & Stylish Goldiee both helped major learn the basics of self production, beat making on the software Logic Pro. After high school Major went on to college for foreign affairs as he came back to the city early Jan 2019 major went ahead and released his first single “ small talk” which featured summer nytes. After releasing “small talk” major went on to release his solo debut single “ HAD A DREAM” which went on to rack up 4K plays on SoundCloud and counting. Major has created a confluence of genres that will become his signature sound
